Durmitor Ebike and Packraft

This adventure is a circular tour, with Camp Grab as the departure and the end.

The adventure begins on our Scott Aspect 930 E ride ebikes, as we ascent from the camp to the top of Tara Canyon. The road we use is a scenic country road, with a mix of tarmac and gravel.

On the first day, we will cycle approximately 65 km, from the camp, through numerous idyllic villages, pine forests, over breath taking mountain plateaus into the heart of Durmitor National Park, continuing along its famed ring road. Half way, we will stop in the village Nedajno, for a well-deserved break and lunch.

From Nedajno, we descent to Sušičko Lake, surrounded by imposing peaks of Durmitor Mountain Range. We then continue along the remaining part of the Durmitor ring road to reach Žabljak, our final destination for the day. In Žabljak, we will spend the night in one of the local guesthouses.

On the second day, we continue on the ebikes, setting off from Žabljak. Initially, we will cycle around Žabljak, admiring the surrounding mountain range and its glacial lakes.

We will then make our way towards an old road that used to connect Žabljak with another mountain town, Šavnik. The road is now unfrequented, giving us a chance to cycle over an incredible mountain plateau undisturbed. We will cycle past several historic monuments, as well as past two beautiful glacial lakes, Vražje Lake and Riblje Lake.

After a break on the lakes, we continue the cycle towards village Njeguvuđa. From here we join the main road and descent steeply back into the Tara River canyon. Our final stop for the day is Đurđevića Tara Bridge, towering nearly 200 m over the canyon. Here we will spend the night in one of the hotels or guest houses.

On this day, we will cycle around 50 km.

Packrafting through Tara Canyon is our favourite part of the adventure. It also tends to be the favourite for many of our clients!

We make our morning way to the packrafting starting point, approximately an hour’s drive from Žabljak. The first day’s packrafting is a 23 km journey through the canyon, that will leave you speechless. The canyon features untouched wilderness and on most trips we sight big game wildlife, including chamois, deer, or if extremely lucky, wolves or bears.

The first night in the canyon is spent in Tepca Village, in the locals’ guest accommodation. The village has incredible views of the canyon and the surroundings. Staying here offers an authentic experience, where you’ll witness traditional Montenegrin rural lifestyle, along with its people and food.

The second packrafting day through the canyon is a 21 km one. It is just as beautiful as the fist day, if not more so. This packrafting day takes us through the deepest part of the canyon along stunning scenery. We make regular stops during the journey, on both days, for you to stretch your legs, have a snack and enjoy waterfalls and caves.

We will spend the night in a lodge in a beautiful camp on the river bank.

On the last packrafting day we will paddle some of the biggest rapids on the river, a number of class III, with an occasional class IV rapid, along a 16 km section. This will take us all the way to the Bosnian border crossing, concluding our 60 km river journey!

We will get picked up from the border and will be taken back to the nearby Camp Grab, our staring point. The paddling will end in the early afternoon, giving us a chance for a well deserved rest and afternoon drinks at the camp! We will have our farewell dinner in the evening and spend the remaining night in a lodge at the camp.

On the last day, the departure is scheduled after breakfast.
